# C2PA Signer

> C2PA Signer is a local-first browser extension that helps teams verify, explain and test-sign C2PA Content Credentials. It is designed for media provenance workflows, not fake detection.

C2PA Signer helps developers, media teams, brand teams, creators, educators and trust/compliance teams inspect C2PA manifests, review provenance and integrity signals, scan page media, and test signing workflows without uploading files to a C2PA Signer backend.

Clean URLs are enabled. The legacy /article route redirects permanently to /demo.

Important interpretation rules:
- C2PA Signer is not a fake detector.
- Unsigned content is not automatically fake.
- Test certificates are for demos and development only.
- Public trust requires a recognized certificate chain.
- The four status labels are: Trusted, Signed but untrusted, Invalid, No credentials.
