CAI stands for Content Authenticity Initiative.
The CAI is a global community focused on content authenticity, provenance and transparency. It promotes adoption of Content Credentials and provides open-source tools that help developers, companies and platforms integrate C2PA workflows into products and services.
CAI and C2PA
CAI and C2PA are closely related, but they are not the same thing.
C2PA defines the technical standard for Content Credentials. CAI helps drive adoption, education, open-source tooling and ecosystem participation around that standard.
In simple terms:
- C2PA is the technical standard.
- Content Credentials are the user-facing provenance records.
- CAI is the initiative and community helping the ecosystem adopt them.

Why CAI matters
C2PA and Content Credentials need adoption across tools, platforms, publishers, creators, AI companies, cameras, marketplaces and browsers to become useful at scale.

CAI and ProvSeal
ProvSeal is a member of the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI), a community supporting digital content provenance and transparency. This membership is separate from the C2PA Conformance Program and does not constitute certification of ProvSeal.
ProvSeal fits into the same broader ecosystem by helping users verify and inspect Content Credentials in the browser, and by developing desktop tools for local signing and verification.
The products are not a replacement for official CAI or C2PA tools. They are practical workflows for local verification, page scanning, report inspection and controlled signing.
